Justyna Kabala

Justyna Kabala is an artist-filmmaker working on experimental and collaborative films with communities. Developing methodologies for sharing authorial control of creative projects through co-directing and collaborative filmmaking activities, her practice-based research projects aim to challenge the hierarchies and power relationships traditionally embedded in filmmaking and participatory practices.

Exploring filmmaking as a tool for social engagement, her collaborative projects aim to address specific issues and themes which individuals and communities experience through co-creation of filmmaking outputs and sharing them with wider audiences. Aiming to build long-term relationships with communities not only through filmmaking practices, but also ongoing output dissemination activities in exhibitions, talks and film festival screenings, the collaborative films serve as part of a wider conversation with broad range of audiences, organisations and other communities.
